Bosch is introducing a unique start stop system. The system incorporates an electric control unit that cuts off the engine after 10 seconds, provided the vehicle is in neutral and the clutch is released. To start the engine, the driver just has to press the clutch and the engine fires back to life. I have earlier seen this same system at work in a Mahindra Scorpio and Bolero, which were called micro hybrids. This simple, cost effective solution, that will eventually be available as an aftermarket fitment as well, has the ability to reduce fuel consumption anywhere between 8-15 per cent. Of course, it comes with the standard override function as well.
